Considering essential measures of companies for SDGs through dialogue between Mrs. Kuniya and Teijin

The companies also can increase its' brand value, motivate employee, and lead to new business opportunities, therefore many companies around the world are now working actively in SDGs and sustainable businesses.
There are eight years left until the 2030 goals. What is required for companies is essential and concrete measures. Some companies that seem to be far from the essential activities can be seen recently, meanwhile, we take up Teijin, a representative manufacturing company in Japan, which was founded over 100 years ago, and the 16th in “2022 Best SDGs companies in Japan”*. 4 executives of Teijin discuss with Mrs. Kuniya, also known as executive director of SDGs project in Asahi News Paper,one by one and in each session they pick up 2 themes of SDGs to make it deepen and to reveal what is the essential activities to achieve it, how to raise the presence of Japanese companies and how we can play a leadership role in the world in tandem with other countries to solve social challenges which we are facing.

Hiroko Kuniya

Ms Kuniya is an independent journalist with focus on sustainability and gender issues. B.A. in International Relations and Economics Brown University.
She worked as an anchor for Japan's public Television, NHK-TV for nearly 30 years.
1989-1993 Anchor for Nightly News,NHK(Japan Broadcasting Corporation)Satellite TV Channel.
Between 1993-2016 she was the host of Today's Close-up, a daily current affairs program on NH7's General Service. She also anchored many Special programs on NHK-TV on wide range of issues such as Cancer Treatment, Defense, International Affairs.
After leaving the network, she has been working to advocate SDGs.
Ms Kuniya is a member of the Board of Trustees to the Tokyo University of the Arts, a SDGs Project Professor at Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance,Board Member of Renewable Energy Institute and Ms Kuniya is an UN FAO National Goodwill Ambassador for Japan.
Recipient of the 'Broadcasting Women Award'(1998), the 50th Kan KIKUCHI Award (2002), The Japan National Press Club Award (2011), and the Galaxy Award Special Prize (2016)
